IBS-Philippines is a member of the International Bible Society, a worldwide organization whose purpose is "to faithfully translate and reach out with God's Word so that people around the world may become disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His Body." IBS published the New International Version (NIV), the most widely read contemporary English translation in the world.
IBS-Philippines has translation projects in three major languages in the Philippines: Tagalog, Hiligaynon and Cebuano. These translations use an informal language style and apply a meaning-based translation philosophy. Thus, they are readable and easy to understand, while also accurately communicating the meaning of the original biblical texts. The translators come from different Christian denominations to safeguard the translations from sectarian bias.
